Jewellery Design

PROGRAM: JEWELLERY DESIGN

In October 2019 in the course of Lifelong learning, the Faculty of Design will organise a one-year course of Jewellery design in the range of 120 hours.

The course will be carried out once a week in the afternoon, between 16.30 and 20.30 hours from October to month may at Gerbičeva Ulica 51 in Ljubljana.

The price of 120 hourly rate is EUR 846.00.

Program Contents:

Theoretical part (30 hours total):

In theoretical work, participants gain knowledge of the basics of jewellery design, its historical development and the characteristics of individual historical eras. Get acquainted with the different types of jewellery and its specifications. They learn about his social role and functions. They learn about contemporary trends in the art of jewellery design. They understand the link between contemporary art and jewelry and the hybridisance of integrating jewellery with other types of art and technology. They develop the skills of using various jewelry-making tools and know the basic techniques of jewellery and the use of various materials such as paper, wood, textiles and metal.

  • Defining and terminology of different types of jewellery
  • Basic knowledge of the historical development of jewellery broader and specific areas of artistic jewellery
  • Knowledge of jewellery characteristics in individual historical periods
  • Understanding the purpose and features of jewellery
  • Understanding the concept of body decorating
  • Understanding of conceptual thinking in the jewellery
  • Knowledge of basic jewellery manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of the use of different types of jewellery-making materials

Practical part (total 90 hours):

  1. Cutting, forging, rolling and bending (30 hours)
  • Basic manual cutting procedures that characterise the manufacture of jewellery
  • Plastic Transforming wire and sheet metal
  • Different modes of bending wire
  • Learning about the characteristics and necessary tools for bending the metal
  • Jewellery Forging technique
  • Making their own pieces of jewellery from idea to execution
  1. Metal-Merge procedure (30 hours)
  • Learning about the different types and characteristics of the tools used in the merging of metal
  • Learning about heat Treatment processes
  • Basic technique of merging in jewellery production
  • Manual processing of metal transformation procedures
  • To learn about finished processing techniques with finished techniques such as pilting
  • Making their own pieces of jewellery from idea to execution
  1. Silver Jewellery Casting Process (30 hours)
  • Learning about the characteristics of the casting and clotting of precious metals and their alloys
  • Learning about the characteristics and usefulness of the process of using wax-casting
  • To learn about the finished techniques of processing the product with final techniques such as grinding

Announced:

In the event of cancellation of the course:
– Ten (10) days before the beginning of the starting time, the declared candidate shall be charged 40
– Five (5) days before the beginning, the declared candidate shall be charged 70 prices
– For less than five days before the beginning, the declared candidate shall be charged 90

If fewer than ten people are reported to the course, we reserve the right to cancel this only by recovering the full registration. We will notify you of any cancellation at least ten days before the beginning.
