LYNNE ELVINS: Design Thinking and Professional practice in design management

Design Thinking:
As a carrier of messages and a tool of influence, design is one of the best investments a business can make. It significantly impacts on what people notice, what they understand and the actions they take. Design thinking is a problem-solving process that takes the playfulness of creativity and the complexity of human behaviour through to rapid prototypes for new products and services. It uses tools and processes from design, placing users at the core. It is about embracing and testing new possibilities in a world where ageing populations, disruptive business models and the circular economy are just some of the issues that boards are watching. The way designers shape solutions has important consequences.
